A New Chapter: Enterprise People Placement with Archipelago Productions

I’m absolutely thrilled to have been awarded Enterprise People funding from Screen Australia—a program designed to create career-defining opportunities and support practitioners in taking their careers to the next level.

Over the next 12 months, I’ll be undertaking a placement with Marta Dusseldorp and Ben Winspear’s Archipelago Productions, the incredible team behind the ABC hit series Bay of Fires. Alongside veteran Producer and Development Executive Kristen Hodges, this placement will allow me to contribute to high-profile projects, collaborate with leading industry professionals, gain valuable screen credits, and further develop my own creative projects.

I’m so excited to begin this next chapter and can’t wait to see where this journey leads!

And That’s a Wrap on While The Men Are Away!

After a whirlwind 9 weeks (or was it 10?!), we’ve officially wrapped principal photography on While The Men Are Away! Serving as the Director’s Attachment on this series has been an experience beyond anything I could have imagined.

I’m still processing everything—the insane amount of knowledge and insight I gained while working so closely to support the brilliant Elissa Down. Watching her direct with such skill and precision was an incredible privilege, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to learn from her every step of the way.

Thank you, Elissa, for your generosity and mentorship throughout this journey—it’s an experience I’ll carry with me forever.

Director’s Attachment for While The Men Are Away

I’m absolutely thrilled to announce that I’ll be the director’s attachment for the entirety of the While The Men Are Away shoot in 2023! Having worked closely on the writing and development of this show, it’s an incredible opportunity to now be on set, witnessing this world come to life.

I’ll be shadowing the amazingly talented and accomplished Elissa Down (Ivy & Bean, The Black Balloon) throughout the shoot. I can’t wait to learn from her expertise and gain insight into the process of bringing this queer, revisionist historical dramedy to the screen.

Here’s a snapshot I took while Zooming in from the UK to the final table read. I’ll hit the ground running as soon as I get back—what an exciting way to kick off 2023!

Set in 1940s rural Australia during WWII, While the Men Are Away is a queer revisionist historical dramedy that follows two Women’s Land Army recruits from Sydney. Their journey takes them into uncharted territory—farming, race relations, rural politics, spirituality, sexuality, and personal growth—against the backdrop of a world turned upside down.

I’m beyond thrilled to have contributed to this project as part of an incredible writing team. Seeing this story brought to life with such a talented cast is a dream come true.

Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to sharing this unique series with audiences!

Excited to Join the Writing Team for While the Men Are Away!

Thrilled to share that I’m part of the writing team for While the Men Are Away, a queer, revisionist historical dramedy for SBS. Set in 1940s rural Australia, the series explores a fascinating period when those traditionally excluded from power—women, LGBTQ+ people, and people of color—were suddenly running the show while the men were off fighting in WWII.

Created by Alexandra Burke (Sissy), Kim Wilson (Wentworth), and Monica Zanetti (Ellie and Abbie (& Ellie’s Dead Aunt)), this 8 x 30 series follows two Women’s Land Army recruits from Sydney as they learn about farming, race relations, rural politics, sex, spirituality, and personal growth in a world turned upside down.

It’s an honor to collaborate with such an incredible team of writers, including Jada Alberts (Cleverman), Magda Wozniak (Bad Behaviour), Enoch Mailangi (All My Friends Are Racist), and Monica Zanetti, under the guidance of producers Lisa Shaunessy (Sissy) and the talented crew at Arcadia.

I can’t wait to see this project come to life and share its humor, heart, and powerful stories with audiences.
